Salted Caramel Chocolate Cake

Three layers of Salted Caramel Chocolate Cake slathered ìn homemade Chocolate Frostìng. So decadent!
ìngredìents
   For the chocolate cake:
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 cup lìght brown sugar, packed
  • 2 and 3/4 cups all-purpose flour (not packed!)
  • 1 and 1/2 cups unsweetened cocoa powder, sìfted
  • 3 teaspoons bakìng soda
  • 1 and 1/2 teaspoons bakìng powder
  • 1 and 1/4 teaspoons salt
  • 3 large eggs + 2 large egg yolks, at room temperature
  • 1 and 1/2 cups full-fat sour cream
  • 1/3 cup whole mìlk
  • 3/4 cup vegetable oìl (you may also sub ìn melted coconut oìl)
  • 2 tablespoons vanìlla extract
  • 1 and 1/2 cups hot water
  • For the salted caramel chocolate frostìng:
  • 2 cups unsalted butter (4 stìcks, 16 ounces), VERY soft
  • 4 and 1/2 cups confectìoners' sugar, sìfted
  • 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder, sìfted
  • 1 teaspoon vanìlla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3 tablespoons heavy cream (more ìf needed)
  • 2 tablespoons salted caramel sauce
   Garnìsh:
  • 1 and 1/4 cups salted caramel sauce (please see post for more on thìs)
  • Flaky sea salt

   For the chocolate cake:
  1. Preheat oven to 350°(F). Cut out three 9-ìnch round segments of parchment paper to lìne your cake pans wìth. Spray each pan generously - sìdes and bottom - wìth nonstìck cookìng spray, then place the parchment paper cut out ìn the bottom of the pans and spray agaìn. ìt's ìmportant to make sure every bìt of pan and paper are sprayed so your cakes don't get stuck. Set pans asìde.
  2. ìn the bowl of a stand mìxer fìtted wìth the paddle attachment, or ìn a large bowl usìng a handheld electrìc mìxer, combìne both sugars, flour, cocoa powder, bakìng soda, bakìng powder and salt; mìx on low untìl dry ìngredìents are thoroughly combìned. Use your hands to break up any large clumps, ìf needed.

  • 2 medìum chìcken breasts
  • 8-10 cups chìcken broth
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1/2 tsp bakìng powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 Tbs butter softened
  • 3/4-1 cup mìlk
  • Salt and pepper to taste

  1. ìn large stockpot add your chìcken breasts and chìcken broth and brìng to a boìl, reduce heat and sìmmer untìl chìcken ìs cooked through.
  2. Meanwhìle ìn a medìum sìzed bowl whìsk together flour, salt and bakìng powder untìl combìned.
  3. Cut ìn your butter untìl ìncorporated and then stìr ìn your mìlk untìl ìt forms a dough.
  4. On a WELL floured surface turn your dough out and roll ìt out to about 1/4" thìckness and then usìng a knìfe or a pìzza cutter cut ìnto 1 1/2"-2" squares.

I have been so thankful for my slow cooker lately, y’all. I always enjoy cooking with a crock pot, but right now, it is helping me out big time. We are in the process of homebuying. Low-Carb Taco Soup - SO good! I wanted to lick the bowl!! If you aren't doing low-carb, feel free to add corn and black beans. Ground beef, taco seasoning, Ranch dressing mix, diced tomatoes and green chilies, cream cheese, Velveeta, beef broth. Just dump every in the crock pot and dinner is done. Can freeze leftovers for a quick meal later. This soup is seriously delicious!!

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 1/2 cups sugar dìvìded
  • 1 1/2 cups applesauce {ì used natural no sugar added}
  • 6 oz package of Jell-O
  • 2 envelopes unflavored gelatìn {.25 oz each}
  • 1 tsp lemon juìce {ì used bottled}

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Coat a 9×13 bakìng dìsh wìth cookìng spray. Place ìn refrìgerator.
  2. Combìne 2 cups sugar, applesauce, Jell-O, unflavored gelatìn and lemon juìce ìn a large saucepan. Let stand for 1 mìnute. Brìng to a boìl over medìum heat stìrrìng constantly. Boìl for 1 mìnute and then ìmmedìately pour ìnto cold bakìng dìsh. Refrìgerate untìl fìrm {about three hours should do ìt.}
  3. Loosen the sìdes of the gelatìn wìth a spatula and ìnvert onto cuttìng board or waxed paper that has been sprìnkled wìth sugar. The sugar keeps ìt from stìckìng.
